Int'l students join in Fudan track event

When Fudan held its annual sports event, May 16 - 17, it pulled in more than 1,500 students and staff members, with the international students turning in some good results in track, while competing with Chinese counterparts.

 

The meet had 45 international students taking part, with Svetlana Rzaevacoming in 3rd in the long-jump, and Sweden’s Maria Gummesson taking 5th in the women 100 meter race. In addition, a Japanese student majoring in Chinese got 3rd in the men’s 1500-meter.

 

In commenting on the outcome, Lv Ruiqing, head of international students’ team, had this to say: “I’m so proud of what our students have achieved. The foreign students usually do well in track, perhaps because they have good training back home.”

 

This 54th Fudan track and field meet was intended to encourage students to get involved in sports and exercise, the schools’ president, Yang Yuliang, explained at the opening ceremony.
